About the Department


The Government of Himachal Pradesh in exercise of the powers conferred under article 162 read with proviso of Article 309 of the Constitution of India constituted the H.P. Staff Selection Commission with its headquarters at Hamirpur vide notification No. Per (AP.B) B (1)-1/98 dated 6th October 1998. The commission has been entrusted with the responsibility of making recommendations to all class-III services/posts including such posts on contract basis under the HP Govt. Besides this, the commission has also to make recommendations to all such class-III posts of the state public sector Undertakings, Boards, Corporations, Universities and Local Bodies, etc., as may be entrusted to the Board by such Boards/ Corporations/ Universities and Local Bodies etc. The commission receives various requisitions of Clerk, Junior Office Assistant, Senior Scale Stenographer, Junior Scale Stenographer, Steno Typist, Computer Operator and Data Operator from different departments or different state public sector Undertakings, Boards, Corporations, Universities and Local Bodies.

Mission/Vision


  1. The commission has been established with the purpose of recruiting capable competent, highly skilled individuals by conducting written tests, professional tests (Typing, Programming, Short Hand, Data Entry etc.) and personal interviews as per the requirement and suitability.
  2. The commission is committed to develop selection and recruitment procedures that conform to the higher standards in testing and promise selection by fair means of the most competent, capable and skilled individuals for user department.
  3. The commission continuously endeavors to ensure that the recruitment is done purely on merit in impartial and objective manner on time.
